Melting the Cage of Ice
I was experiencing a very emotional time this month. I had 81 paintings
on display at a gallery in my community. Many people viewed the
show in tears and thanked me for telling their story, or their sister's,
wife's, mother's, daughter's or son's story. It was becoming difficult
to maintain a cool facade. I rely on Dr. W. and the therapy process
to help me with these intense emotions.
It would seem natural for this exhibit to be a culmination of my
therapeutic experience. However, the dream suggests that I not be
so fast in my assumptions. The child may have been at the meat of
the matter but now there is the young woman to consider. I still
have much to learn.
Dream:
I was driving a snowmobile over huge mounds of dirty, rutted
snow. I was going much too fast. I couldn’t see over the next
rise or how deep the ruts were. I think I crashed. The next thing
I know I am in a house. Someone is putting boxes of frozen meat
on the counter. One is labeled “guts & gizzards, 8 years
old, Emily.” Another box contains a young woman. I want to
leave this house but feel I must stay to investigate. I decide not
to eat anything in this house especially meat.
