Smiling on the Outside
Feelings of rejection have been a major force in my life so I decided
to paint the feeling of being under a cloud with nothing to protect
myself. Then I immediately drew the “real” me, a smiling
persona, to shield her or, perhaps, to deny her existence as I walk
away with my mysterious balloons. Do they contain other, as yet,
unacknowledged aspects of my self?
This ramshackle place built from rejected trash houses my soul;
I think it is time to examine the materials going into this grim
remodeling project. All of these ground up memories continue to
be a part of me but I can expand into new possibilities. I am ready
to search for what lies between walls of rejection and a false facade.
It frightens me to realize that swimming through the foreboding
slime pit is the only way out of here.
Dream:
There was a ramshackle house-maybe we were living in it. We were
fixing it up by putting old stuff into a grinder and pouring the
chips in a mold. We were making various sized bricks of this stuff.
We used the bricks to build new walls inside the old house - rebuilding
the house from the inside out. The view out the back door was a
deep pit filled with water. . .like a gravel pit but kind of junky
- a dangerous place.
